Stencil it: Throw Pillows
Posted by Katie B. on Nov 23rd 2019
Do you have old throw pillows laying around that don’t really match anything? With a stencil and some paint, you can transform them into chic home accents. Spruce up your home decor this season and knock the socks of your holiday guests with this fun and simple stenciled throw pillow cover!
SUPPLIES:
- iStencils! shown 27-00074 R
- Throw pillow cover
- Paint
- Stencil Brushes
- Repositionable spray adhesive
- Pencil
-Begin by ironing your pillow cover and removing any debris. Place a piece of cardboard between the fabrics to avoid paint bleed.
-Lightly spray some repositionable spray adhesive on the back of the stencil (shown iStencils design 27-00074 R Geometric Lattice)
-Center the design on the pillow cover, and mark the registration marks in the corners with a pencil.
-Once the design is centered, start stenciling. We used a #24 stencil brush and Black Pearl Metallic Paint.
-Use a dry paint application and swirling motion to apply. The swirl method is done by doing little circles while painting. This application is good to use with fabric as it is less likely to over saturate the fabric.
-Once the complete first pattern has been painted carefully remove the stencil and align the registration marks on the stencil with the penciled markings on the pillow cover. Repeat this process until complete.
-Allow the paint to dry and iron the stenciled design to set the paint. (30 seconds on medium heat)
