Being a part of an all-woman graphic design team at iStencils, I know a thing or two about what girl power means in the workplace. There is so much that we expect of ourselves, so many things that we think about, over-think about, worry about and stress over. Lighten up the mood with some witty quotes! Create a positive atmosphere and give yourself, and your co-workers, a little reminder about how bada** you truly are.

Here are 10 empowering quotes we firmly believe every woman should have in her office:

  1. "A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her" - There will always be people in our lives that want nothing more than to see us fail. These are the same people who do everything in their power to bring us down to their level. A lot of the times, this is where the negative rumors and experiences are established. Rise above, prove them wrong, and show them what you’re really made out of. They don’t know who they’re messing with.

  1. "Messy bun and getting stuff done" - Some days, we just need to pull ourselves together and do what we need to do to get the job done. Whatever it may be to get yourself to power through. For me? You know I mean business when I've got my hair up and my Spotify turnt up.

  1. "Another woman's success is not a measure of your failure" - The second worst thing you could do to yourself is compare your life to others. Everyone is different and lead separate lives. Be grateful for the life you're given; you only get one. If you're not happy with something in your life, then it's time to start making changes. But never once should you feel like a failure for another woman's accomplishment. We are here to lift each other up and encourage each other!

  1. "Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will" - This is the absolute worst thing you could do to yourself. We are our own worst critics. A negative mindset attracts adverse situations and reactions. Doubt will bring you down, and will eventually turn toxic to your well-being. If you start to feel like you're meeting every roadblock, take a step back and look at the situation from a different view. If you're feeling like nothing you do is good enough, take a break and do something to appreciate yourself. You're amazing, and you need to remember that.

  1. "Keep going until your bank account looks like your phone number" - You may be thinking, "it is ridiculous to think that I could ever have that much money". I get it - I thought the same thing, seeing as my goal apparently is in the 800 million range. But why not dream? Motivate yourself! Set a goal for yourself! Some day you will come back and say, "Thank you iStencils girl. You encouraged me to become the trillionaire that I am today. Here, have a couple million as a token of my gratitude". Again, one can dream, right?

  1. "Never look back, darling” - There is no sense with living in the past; you're not going in that direction. Overthinking and overanalyzing does not solve anything, and is only hurting you and your happiness. Stop worrying about what you did or didn't do the week before and begin to focus on what you can do moving forward.

  1. "Don't put too much pressure on yourself" - We are designed to only handle one thing at a time. I know, I know - it's easier said than done. But what seems better, half-assing ten things or whole-assing one thing? You are one person, and you are only capable of so much. The sooner you start realizing that of yourself, the sooner your workload lightens. You'd be amazed at how much you can get done just by moving your focus.

  1. "Life is tough, my dear, but so are you" - This is something we should all be reminding ourselves, every day. We've got this! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You are in charge of your own life, and only you get to decide what will make or break you.

 stencil quote

  1. "Be pretty if you can, witty if you must, but be gracious even if it kills you" - Elsie De Wolfe - First off, we are all pretty and that's a given fact. That is something that is never in question. Wit comes and goes as it pleases (especially when wine is involved). But the most important thing that we need to remind ourselves of is to be kind in all that we do. Being an ungrateful grouch is going to get you nowhere in life. Be polite, be friendly, and say your please and thank-yous.

And, as always -

  1. "May your clothes be comfy, your coffee be strong, and your Monday be short" - An idiom that we all live by; what we beg and plead for at the start of every week. This is my swan song.
